One of my favorite Christmas memories as a little girl was the exchange of goody-baskets with neighborhood friends. Homemade fresh baked breads, cookies, and nut mixes were meaningful and tasty treats that I looked forward to. The combination of this memory and my distaste for the excessive commercialism we see today, has always left me with the desire to give our own homemade gifts.

The gift of real, wholesome food represents much of what the holiday season means – sharing love, nourishment, celebration of the past year, and best wishes for the year to come. DIY cookie jar mixes are a great gift to express just this!

What I love about these DIY cookie jar gifts is:

• They are super cute, pretty and easy to put together.

• They allow the receiver to decide when to make and enjoy them. (There’s nothing worse than an overabundance of sweets all at once).

• They require the addition of just a few ingredients.

• They are a healthier version of most cookies (gluten-free or grain-free, low in sugar, and without additives).

In this post you will find THREE fabulous mix ideas to assemble and pass along.

For each, all you will need is:

• A 32 oz. wide mouth mason jar.

• The ingredients listed in each recipe.

• The downloadable label and tag PDFs provided for each cookie flavor (with directions and ingredients). Shown in bottom picture of this post.

• White 8 1/2 x 11″ cardstock.

• A printer, scissors, double sided tape or glue dots, a hole punch, and ribbon or twine.

• Fabric squares (optional!) as shown.
