This sausage and veggie foil pack recipe is a cinch to make, especially if you’re out camping. All you need is a campfire, real food ingredients, and some foil.
Don’t be fooled…just because you’re following a keto or low-carb lifestyle doesn’t mean you can’t (or shouldn’t) eat your colorful veggies, too. This easy recipe combines sausage, broccoli, mushrooms, peppers, and onions for a fat adapted, balanced blood sugar meal.
You can use either fresh or frozen vegetables for this. Broccoli and peppers are some of the best frozen vegetables to cook with.

Wrapping fresh ingredients in foil pouches is a meal that can be prepared ahead at home and cooked on the bed of hot campfire coals at the campsite.

Sausage & Veggie Foil Packs: A Keto Camping Recipe
Ingredients
- 1, 12 oz package of your favorite pre-cooked sausage links, cut into 1” pieces
- Florets from 1 head of broccoli, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 8 mushrooms, quartered
- 1 red bell pepper, rough chopped
- 1 orange bell pepper, rough chopped
- ½ onion, sliced
- Drizzle of avocado oil
- Dash of sea salt, pepper, and garlic powder
- Optional: Parmesan cheese to top
Instructions
- Start a campfire, establishing hot coals.
- Toss all ingredients (except cheese) in a large mixing bowl until well mixed and coated with oil.
- Cut 8 sheets of aluminum foil (about 16” x 12”). Double up the sheets for added protection and divide mixture evenly in the middle of the four rectangles.
- Wrap foil up and seal ingredients completely.
- Using tongs, gently place the foil packets into the fire pit on hot coals. Cook for about 15 minutes, turning packet halfway through.
- Carefully open a packet to check cooking progress. Pull the remaining packets from the fire or return until desired doneness.
- Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese (optional) and enjoy right from the foil packet, or serve on reusable camping plates.
